Robert L. “Bobby” Waters is one of the largest investors, developers and contractors in Baton Rouge but he has maintained the stealth posture that befits his nature. Those who know Bobby admire his style, character and honesty. In a tough business he is truly admired for his quiet genius and mannerism. Being fair, and treating everyone with respect, are Bobby’s trademark and these traits have allowed him to achieve things that otherwise may not have been possible. In 1990, Waters founded Watco Construction, Inc. which has flourished into a multi-dimensional real estate firm. Earlier this year RWL Interests, LLC was formed as the holding companies for Waters’ vast properties. And, Bobby expanded the breath of the company’s management by forming a strategic alliance with some of his partners. Watco Construction is run by Steven Davis, who serves as COO, and J.T. Davidson, the company’s CFO. Waters has vested the future of Watco with these men and the talented staff they have assembled. Watco is involved in residential and commercial construction in Alabama, Mississippi, Florida and Louisiana. Davis and Davidson have established relationships with engineers and architects in the various states and provide a plethora of services to Waters’ and other clients. If one is an astute observer of the environment in which its business activities are centered, the ability to capitalize on opportunists isn’t difficult. The planned and proposed expansion of the chemical industry surrounding Baton Rouge, the proliferation of national retailers coming to the city, and the Katrina impact validate Bobby’s conviction that the market is not only viable but robust. The bleak picture painted by the national press has been the single cause of any dampening effect realized in the local market. Not being contrarians, but rather optimists, the Waters group has embraced the position that prudent investment opportunities are prevalent. RWL Interests sphere of influence has been enhanced as a result of the association of two partners that have joined Waters. After a long and distinguished career, as the city’s top commercial lender, Brent A. Nettles became a developer and partner with Bob Breazeale. The combined expertise of Breazeale and Nettles adds depth to RWL and their association will allow the firm to expand and venture into other areas of the real estate industry. Breazeale’s twenty-five years in the industry and the creative, innovation concepts he has successfully employed over the years will enable the holding company to broaden its scope of activities. And, Nettles’ illustrious financial knowledge presents opportunities that will enable the firm to utilize funding sources from a variety of providers. While Bobby Waters may have flown under the radar in the past, with his new team in place, RWL Interests will quietly make its mark on the regional scene. |
